How to unsubscribe from the spam maillist in one (or three) small steps
Hello everyone,
Chris here - the same Chris from the not very funny rhyme few hours ago. Sorry about that, but I had to test my theory first.
I know you are all tired of this never-ending stream of random spam and support ticket replies that has been flooding your inbox for the past 2 weeks. I know this because I am tired of it too.
Someone created an email group on Google Groups and added your addresses. And also addresses of many automated support systems. Many of you have been replying about unsubscribing to the wrong people - not the group owners, but other victims like yourselves. That won't reach anyone who can actually stop it.
But there is a quick fix:
- Send an email with an empty body and "Unsubscribe" in the subject line to the group's technical address: googlegroups-manage+321501448551+unsubscribe@googlegroups.com
- If you'd like to return the favor: if you know anyone looking for a Linux, DevOps, or Observability expert, feel free to forward my resume: https://flowcv.com/resume/m9fiqwe7t9w5 - also if you want to fortify your system against such threats I'll gladly work with you.
- And you can also tip me for my help: https://buymeacoffee.com/lancaster83
Best regards,
PS
For a future reference, you can check the unsubscribe address in mail headers, it may be useful someday.
